Where to start

The Campaign section of the website will give you resources for strategy and planning for a ministry in your church. It will help you in evaluating values and setting goals for your apologetics, worldview, and evangelism initiative. Also, in the Campaign section are materials for getting your church members interested and involved. This includes brochures, posters, and multi-media promotional material. As a 3e Impact member you can use the promotional material within the guidelines in the 3e Branding Use Policy. You may also decide that you want to use 3e resources, but call your church's ministry by another name.

Forming a Group

Key to the success of starting a 3e campaign in your church is the formation of a dedicated group of leaders. Do not go solo. It is important to find one or two (or more) other individuals in your church that are interested in apologetics and start meeting on a regular basis to establish goals.

We understand that churches vary greatly in their size, organizational structure, leadership styles, and exposure to apologetics and worldview thinking. Each church will want to approach a new ministry initiative in a different way. That is why 3e is not trying to give a formula for effective ministry. Rather, we want to give you resources and give some suggestions of how you might carry out this important work. The hard work of evaluating your needs, setting concrete goals, and implementing the long term ministry are left up to you. However, we do have an overall goal relating to leadership: 3e's goal is to have an apologetics/worldview/evangelism point-person in every Bible believing, evangelical church in America. This point person will vary from church to church. In some churches this person may be the pastor. In some churches it may be an elder, deacon, or staff member. In still others it may be a lay leader. Whatever your circumstance find a person who becomes the point person for apologetics inside your church. This person should work to gather a group of others in the church that become the core of the 3e type ministry.

Important: This type of ministry initiative should always be done with the consultation and full blessing of the pastor and other church leadership. In no way does 3e wish to undermine or question the work of existing church leadership. In many cases the person responsible for this campaign will be the pastor. However, as many pastor's are busy with their existing work and don't have time to commit to additional ministry initiatives we believe it is important for others in the church to be involved and support the church leadership in the areas of apologetics, worldview, and evangelism. This is meant to be a "coming along side" church leaders and lifting up their arms in this important and often neglected area of Christian discipleship.

Timeframe

The 3e initiative is not meant to be a short term program. Rather, it is meant to encourage the long term development of the 3e values in your church or organization and to equip you for an ongoing ministry in your church. It is better to start slowly and thoughtfully and build a solid vision of ministry rather than jump starting too quickly and tire out early. 3e is not a "program" that has a particular curriculum or course of study (though these will be provided). More exactly, 3e is a set of values and goals for your church and a deposit of resources to help you to begin moving your church toward those goals. We desire to raise the bar on discipleship of the Christian mind (both its internal and external aspects). This is something that can not be done overnight and is, in fact, never finished.

3e Association

By being a 3e member and associating loosely with other like minded churches it is our desire that you not only become better equipped in your church, but that you become a spark and resource to other churches and individuals in your area. 3e is a statement that you care about the life of the mind, engagement with instead of withdrawal from the culture, and bold yet winsome evangelism.

3e does not oversee the doctrinal and organizational expression of individual churches. However, membership in the 3e Impact Associationis intended solely for churches, organizations, and individuals who affirm an orthodox understanding of biblical Christianity (see statement of faith). 3e is open to churches and ministry organizations of any denominatin or size that hold to the historical orthodox Christian faith with a deep committment to life in Christ.
